Fa-Rei
[Base Nation: China] The Fa-Rei Kingdom is the third newest nation of Shyuu and by far the largest. Although predominantly Fa-Reinese, the larger cities and border cities are filled with people from a variety of heritages. Ruled by a king, it was only a century ago that dynasties and family bloodlines were no longer the only ones eligible for royalty. The noble class has also become more of an earned status than a birthright, granted by merit and service to the kingdom rather than family ties. Hoshidonese Samurai Lords (Daimyo) that have migrated from Hoshidon play the second largest role in Fa-Reinese politics and have a large presence in the military. Sueonghanese descendants make up much of the Eastern commoner population. Fa-Rei practice a spirit/ancestor religion.

Sueongha
[Base Nation: Korea] Once a much larger nation, Sueongha has seen much of its territory annexed by the Fa-Reinese and Ulanese centuries ago. It currently has a peace treaty with Fa-Rei, but through the latter's devious bureaucratic tactics, land is being absorbed little by little. The Seuonghanese are governed by a democratic senate, and are considered to be one of the most progressive and prosperous of the nations. They maintain an underdog relationship with Fa-Rei and Hoshidon. The dominant faith of the nation is spirit and ancestor-based, not unlike its larger neighbor.

Hoshidon
[Base Nation: Japan] The Hoshidonese Empire once waged war against the Fa-Rei Kingdom in an attempt to conquer it, but that was centuries ago; now, they maintain a peace treaty together, though Hoshidon still influences Fa-Reinese politics. The Hoshidonese are known for their extreme nationalism and xenophobia, and are often regarded as arrogant both politically and as a people. Their civilization is ruled by several Samurai Lords (Daimyo) who answer only to the divine Emperor. Hoshidon's official religion reveres spirits and gods, of which Amaterasu, from whom Emperor claims descent, is the head.

Rhasmapatra
[Base Nation: India] Covered in a dense expanse of jungle, Rhasmapatra is ruled by a collective of kings and princes known as maharajas. Its society is very different from that of other nations, due mostly to its division along an often rigid sociopolitical caste system. The Devas, perceived as gods of Rhasmapatra, only have power within its borders, so few Rhasmapatran practitioners of divine magic leave the nation. It is also the only place where the theory of reincarnation, central to their beliefs, is widely observed (as well as it can be). The nation is known for its rich culture and it's valuable luxury goods, such as spices, textiles, and exotic fruits.

The Free Islands
[Base Nations: Southeast Asia, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines] Once divided into the fiefs and vassals of the other countries, the Free Islands banded together to declare independence and form their own nation. Their united rebellion succeeded in dislodging all foreign powers, and the rest of the land eventually recognized their sovereignty (albeit grudgingly). Made up of a melting pot of various cultures and ethnicities, there is no centralized government in the Free Islands; each island runs its own affairs. However, when engaging in war or foreign policy they represent each other as one, maintaining a rotating ambassadorship among themselves. The Free Islands are known for being very dangerous, and not only for their chaotic weather: many ports and towns are run like mafias, and numerous pirates and crime syndicates roam the waters and islands.

Ulan
[Base Nation: Mongolia] This bleak land is shaped by power and power alone. With no centralized government, Ulan is instead divided among different nomadic tribes that vary in size and power throughout the seasons, making the land very chaotic. Their well-known militancy and disregard for "civilized" affairs puts them at odds with every nation they border, a matter not helped by their proneness for pillaging and conquering neighboring regions for resources and slaves. The Fa-Rei kingdom is the only thing preventing Ulan from invading Tenzin. The Ulanese are known for their pragmatism towards matters of faith, and count shamanism, Ibadah, and Karuna among their tribes.

Tenzin
[Base Nations: Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan] A pacifist and insular nation, it is technically not a state, given the absence of a true government. Rather, it is led by a series of spiritual who serve as both secular and religious authorities. Despite their peaceful nature, Tenzians produce some of most powerful psychics of Shyuu. They signed a treaty with Fa-Rei, offering resources and open trade routes in exchange for protection from Ulanese raiders. Their dominant faith is Karuna, with pockets of shamanism still persisting.

Doryoska
[Base Nation: Russia, Siberian-Yupik culture] A harsh land ruled only by nature itself, the Doryoskan tribes are the only people who live peacefully here (though some enterprising merchants and zealous Qadarian missionaries sometimes try). They're known throughout Shyuu for their uniquely natural light eyes and hair. Most cryokinetic spells and powers were born in this region, and there are several Doryoskan tribes that consist entirely of lycanthropes. The land is so dangerous not even the Ulanese want it; the temperatures can sometimes flashfreeze. The Doryoskans are perfectly at home in the terrain, even while some the spirits that wander the land are among the most dangerous and unforgiving in all of Shyuu. The people of Doryoska practice a shamanistic tradition, with some converts to the Qadarian faith.

Quadar
[Base Nations: Persia, Turkey, Arabia] Ruled by a single sultan, Quadar, along with Talzistan, are the only nations in Shyuu who follow a monotheistic religion, called Ibadah. Locked by a vast desert to the East, tundra to the North and ocean to the South and West, Quadar's society has developed with little interference from the rest of Shyuu, and is among the least culturally diverse (not including coastal cities). Dabbling less in martial arts and more in divine and arcane magic, the Quadarians also are known for their advanced technology relative to the rest of the nations, and for their developments in astronomy, mathematics, and engineering.

Talzistan
[Base Nations: Afghanistan, Pakistan] Culturally similar to Qadar, the Talzistanis once joined them as part of a larger empire. However, it's people rejected the the claimed spiritual authority Quadar's rulers, which led to a bloody religious war and the south's subsequent secession. Talzistan is a loose confederacy of tribes and ethnicities, and is one of the most diverse of all the nations; it's almost as decentralized as the Free Islands. There remains much tension between Talzistan and Qadar, as well as with Rhasmapatra. Where the Free Islands are the main ports of shady business and danger in the Eastern seas, Talzistan carries the same role in the West. The Talzistanis are known for their fierce sense of independence and traditional.
