Post by PyrasTerran on Jul 21, 2012 14:26:42 GMT -5
The red stars burned in the sky on into the night, but disappeared once the sun rose. Our heroes wake to the smell of breakfast, a traditional Fa-Reinese meal waiting for them downstairs, save Aeon, who chose to sleep by the table. The new day feels surreal, as the city is quiet as any other morning, as if last night was just a bad dream. Once ready, their orders were to head to the gate to await their Fa-Reinese liaison.

When Akane woke up, she hopped down from the tree with her back pack in hand.
(Athletics [dice=20]+4=22)
Akane was able to land gracefully on the ground and started to walk down the early empty streets of the city, heading towards the pier. As she gets close she start rummaging through her bag, looking for something. Her feet touch the sandy beach as she finds what she was looking for. She lifted five delicate little flowers to her eye level and smiles gently at them.
Akane stripes off her clothes until she is in nothing but her bandages and under clothing. She gently walks in the water till she is waist deep, not minding the cold morning chill. She lifts the flowers to lips and kisses them gently before putting them in the water one by one. As she does so, she murmurs soft words in her native tongue. Than she dunks underneath the water and rises back up. Her body tingles and shivers as she can feel the water spirits accepting her gift.
Akane turns and slowly walks out of the water and when she is completely out, not a single drop of water was left on her. She put her clothes back on and walked towards the gate to meet her fellow "teammates".[rand=9099401482380927830149309942498848791886237449944561220686417073]

Tun Si rose nice and early like she normally did, and dressed in fresh new robes. She finished by slipping her hairpin through her bun before heading off downstairs to the breakfast awaiting her and the others.
Once at the table, she saw only Aeon who was still seated exactly where he was last night.
How one finds sleeping like that comfortable, I'll never understand. Tun Si thought to herself as she quietly took her seat and started serving herself a bowl of rice porridge, some steamed baozhi and a cup of doujiang tea.
After I'm done here I'll get my bag and head off to the rendezvous point. I wonder what things we'll encounter when we hit the road?

Nergüi arose from his resting place on the floor with alacrity, performed a few basic stretches and then, clad in the same ragged clothes he'd worn (and slept in) the night before, descended upon the breakfast table with a measuring scowl.
Of course the effete swine hadn't bothered to prepare any mutton, and certainly no tea other than the watery swill that seemed to be all the Fa-Reinese could stomach.
He prodded an unfortunate bowl of congee with his index finger, grimaced, and settled upon a couple of steamed buns, simply chewing them down while he remained standing.
Good thing I ate well last night. Maybe I can secure some game meat...
If he noticed either Tun Si or Aeon, he certainly didn't give any indication of it.

Aeon rises from the chair, stiff and sore from the wounds he took yesterday, and stretches. He plods over to the table looking for something he can stomach then just starts picking up random things and stuffing them into his mouth hoping that a few of them are actual food.
After he finishes he grabs his satchel from the back of the chair and walks to the door.
"Ok, Lets get this over with."

Tun Si silently acknowledged Nergüi's appearance, but kept to herself as she finished her morning meal.
Once her bowl emptied, she stacked her dishes together to keep everything neat and tidy. Tun Si got up from her seat and returned to her quarters to retrieve her backpack. With it in hand, she checked out of the inn and headed off towards the rendezvous point.
"Well, today's the day."

The Beggar Khan donned his armor after breakfast, made his way to the stables, and rode for the gate at breakneck speed, taking great amusement in the way the "sheep" scattered to get out of his way.
He made, to say the least, excellent time.

Tama rose before the sun, as was her ritual, and did her morning exercises before descending to eat breakfast. Save a sleeping Aeon, no one was downstairs at the time. She stuffed some dumplings into a cloth napkin and headed outside to begin her walk to the gate. Watching the sun rise always rejuvenated her, and she felt significantly more confident than the night before. "There is nothing I cannot handle..." she thought while she plopped a dumpling into her mouth. "I'd like to have a few words with Nam Il before we embark..." she mused.

Nan Fa Ra Duk slowly opened his room door and closed it noiselessly, all his belonging on his back again he quickly, but above all quietly got to the door and once outside took off running to the meeting point
"Phew", he thought to himself, "Dodged that arrow."
Somewhere behind him at the inn, a surely dissapointed waitress would be waking up with no more music in her life.[rand=51997578430613763075740810044578999110484182952312225691865808424]

Soon enough, our heroes had congregated at the nearest Western gate. As they awaited their government contact, they watched as the three other teams, with their leaders, Daimyo Hibiki, Lt. Ling, and Sung Chan, rode off on horseback straight past the six and the gate, Westward towards Shion-Pa.
A few moments later, our heroes can hear a collection of trotting as Nam Il has returned. He struggles with guiding five horses, including the one he is currently on, to our heroes. The other four are apparently meant for those without their own (Nergüi, Tama). Nam Il tries waving to the party, nearly losing some reins he has in his hands.

Akane was sitting off on the side of the gate, not really interacting with her fellow teammates yet, since she will have to deal with them after they leave for their long journey she wanted to have a bit of privacy.
Once she heard the trotting she got up and walked over where Nam Il was steering the horses to. Akane smirked to herself, wondering if the horses will detect what she really was.
As she got closer two out of the five horses that were close to Akane turned their heads towards her, both grunting whining slighting being uncomfortable but as Akane got closer, the other three remaining horses looked her way as well, so she tried to send good thoughts and energy to show them she means no harm.

He nodded down at Tun Si.

Akane: [failure]
As Akane approaches, the horses whinny in fright, and two of them even buck up, almost causing Nam Il to be launched off as he cries out in surprise.
"Woah! Woah!!" He calls out, trying to calm the horses down.
Tun Si: [success]
Fortunately, Tun Si's experience with horses in her family helps tremendously. The horses, a bit nervous still, calm down all the same, but deign to keep their distance from Akane. Nam Il notices this, looking to Akane with curiosity, then worry, but he kept his thoughts to himself.
[Akane's hidden true nature as a Jorogumo is causing horseback to be problematic. Either 20 minutes of handling and a Nature check of DC 20, or an hour of handling, will be required to get at least one of the horses used to Akane.]

"Are you going to moan every time someone looks at you cross-eyed?" Tama asks Akane in a flat, almost stern tone. It is an attitude she adopts when commanding her soldiers that is not particularly accusatory but gently reproachful. "I have more than my fair share of wary looks by strangers every day, so I understand what it is like. But prejudice is an evil found among all peoples, no matter their race or gender. You've made your distaste for humans plain, yet you expect our trust. Trust is a two-way street, and if we're going to succeed in this mission then we're going to need to attempt to set aside our differences and learn to count on one another." Tama takes a brief moment to gaze at the others. "Otherwise, it is futile..."

Aeon casually walks up to one of the rearing horses with a sideways glance over to Akane.
"Perhaps we should have gotten you a donkey. much more calm animals, especially around whatever it is you are supposed to be."
He turns back to the freaking out horse.
(Dominate [dice=20]+15)
And the horse simply kneals down, getting as low as it possibly can. dipping its head in complete submission. Aeon barely has to stretch himself in order to mount the beast's saddle. When he is ready it regains its footing without hesitation or any perceivable input. Aeon doesnt even hold the reins, only the pommel of the saddle.

Duk's horse is more than willing to be ridden by him, and keep away from Akane.
Nam Il turns to Akane after Tama's lecture.
"Ms. Akane.. ..I think it is important for us to know... ..what are you, exactly, if not human..?"
As he asks this, Nam Il's gears finally click that Akane may very well be a Jorogumo, the spider race of Hoshidon that, legend says, pose as beautiful, alluring women to draw men away to consume them.

"I am a HengeYoukai..." Akane looked at Tama and at Tun Si than back at Nam Il. "More specially a Spider HengeYoukai..." Akane looked at the horse. "These animals have a right to be scared...After all, I have eaten one or two..." Akane turned to Tama. "And I have lived long enough to know who to trust and who to avoid."

(An Insight check is required to roll against Duk's bluff. Success means you see through Duk's ruse and will likely not leave the bard near your belongings, and gain a +2 bonus to roll the next time Duk tries to swindle you. Failure means you either trust Duk or can't see the harm in letting him keep track of some of your belongings, for whatever reason. A roll of 1 is a critical failure; you are completely oblivious to Duk's wiles and trust him completely when it comes to keeping track of your things. A natural 20 is a context sensitive reward. Failure does not mean you HAVE to give him something of yours at this instant, just that you trust him or find no harm in his offer.)
