Sunlight peaks through the trees, streaks of light blanketing the woods and shrine.
The old man returns to tend to the incense of the shrine, and Nam Il slowly arises for the new day.

Akane wakes up gently and looks at her surroundings, than she remembered where she was. "Oh right..."
Akane turned and sat on the branch, she cracked her neck and stretched her shoulders before standing up to starting to climbing up the tree.
(Athletics [dice=20]+4=19)
Once Akane got up to the top of the tree so she could oversee the tree line. Akane started looking for some sort of water supply.

Tun Si was already up and attaching her belongings to her mount's saddle. Earlier she made a fresh change of clothing consisting of traditional loose monk attire, the only thing she left unchanged was the lotus hairpin in her bun.
After securing her things, she decided to take a look around the area and see if there were possibly any edible wild fruit to take with her.
[Perception][dice=20]+14
Fortunately she didn't need to look too far as she spotted a lush bush decked with wild berries. Just to be certain, she approached the bush to inspect the berries a little closer.

As light was creeping on the horizon, Tama quickly gathered some tinder and lit a campfire. The woods around her seemed peaceful as she shook the branch of a nearby tree, the dew drops wetting her face and invigorating her. Noiselessly, she grabbed her yumi and went off into the forest. [dice=20] +5 (Nature) Just as everyone was beginning to wake, Tama emerged from the trees with a dozen fish hanging from a wire slung over one shoulder and three pheasants hung over the other. Wrapped in a cloth, she had more than a dozen pheasant eggs, which she set down near the fire along with the rest of the food. Within a few minutes, she set some rice to boil and began deboning the fish, using an arrow to spear through them once done like fish-ka-bob. She called Nam Il over to help collect more kindling to get a second fire going.[rand=845868911594152511253297189250588237363597610965378575741802342236]

Nergüi awoke with his usual grimace, stretched, spat, and then relieved himself against a convenient (and possibly religiously significant) tree before absently rolling up his blanket and heading for the horses.
He'd just as soon have everyone's mounts ready, since it seemed no one else was inclined to leave on an empty stomach.
I wonder who took the third watch...
He quietly put the saddles back on the horses, did a quick check on each animal's hooves, and then made his way back to the rest of the group, watching Nam Il's effort to light a fire with an appraising eye.

Tun Si's taste test of the berries she found was not fruitful. It left a very bitter aftertaste that she could not seem to get out of her mouth.
Back at the shrine, Nam Il bends down beside a pile of kindling a bit larger than necessary, as he reaches into his large pack searching for an alchemical item he had purchased for starting campfires.

As Tama leans in is when Nam Il notices just how little she is wearing, especially for Eastern Shyuu. Though timid, in his mind he chastises himself for forgetting that Tama is a Djinnassa, being that originate from the West, where clothing that leaves little to the imagination was both customary and practical for the hot weather. Indeed, Tama was probably much more body heat than the average human..
He quickly shook the ideas out of his head and nodded meekly.
"Uuh.. t-thank you.." He turns to Tun Si, seeing her take of her provisions.
"Hey, Ms. Tun Si, the Lieutenant General is making breakfast," He calls out happily.
Meanwhile, Akane is able to navigate to the river she predicted after several minutes of trek.
Aside from the sound of flowing water, the forest was deathly silent.

“Surely you’ve seen pheasant, before…” Tama states, marveling at the question. Perhaps it was due to lack of sleep that she was in no mood to deal with inane questions, but she bit her tongue and sighed inwardly. “For the sake of time, we won’t be having them, today, however. Plucking and gutting them is fairly tedious, and they would not taste as well as if they had been hung for several days to be tenderized.” She fussed with the fish, turning the spit over to roast them evenly. Then she unwrapped the eggs she had collected and beckoned Tun Si over to her. “Assist me in cooking these. Pour the fish oil into the pan, and then crack these open and stir them over the fire.” Tama sets about draining the rice and preparing some tea in the meantime. She looks up, suddenly realizing something, and glances around the camp. "Has anyone seen Akane?"

Meanwhile,
Akane sees no danger around her.
However, once she had waded into the water, she feels a terrible premonition, something was about to happen to her. She was not safe.

Akane smiles as she felt no danger, so she stripped her clothing to her under wrappings and dug in her pack for the flowers she was going to use for her ritual. She smelled them before she entered the water. But her smile faded when she felt the universe warning her, from experience of past premonitions Akane gently backed up until she was out of the water. Very gently she picked up her clothes and meld back in the shadows.
(Stealth [dice=20]+10=21)
Akane tried to head back to the group and with amazing stealth was able to not make a sound when she ran. Akane cursed in her thoughts, not because of the danger she was in but because she wasn't able to do her ritual, if she didn't do it in a certain amount of time in the day, she would lose her ability of her Earthen Grasp and Control Plant for 24 hours.

[NOTE: It's not just your offensive spells that will lose focus. You are a full Wu Jen, so all your spells will be affected by not completing your ritual.] [critical failure] Akane steps right into what she was trying to avoid: a trap. The ground beneath her kicks up leaves as with incredible speed a net wraps around her. Before she can even gasp, the net is being dragged at high speeds across the other side of the river, drenching her again and beating her through the bushes. The world is a blur of leaves and wood, and she can barely regain any focus or composure before she finds herself entangled on the ground surrounded by a circle of bandits. "That was easier than I thought," one of them called out with a chuckle. "Hurry up, use the powder," Another pushed, and one of the bandits throws a bag of powder at Akane's face, it bursting the contents across her. [FORTITUDE SAVE] [dice=20]+5 = failure Akane feels like she's going to gag but cannot, and she can no longer hold her human form. Her body and clothing meld together into massive spindly, bright red spider limbs. She has been forced into her giant spider form. The bandits gave collective gasps of shock and disgust. "She's a monster!" "Revolting!" "It's enormous!" Their cries were silenced by a single deep, dark voice. "She is perfect." Akane sees a tall man with raven black hair and makeup striding slowly towards her from the back of the crowd. The bandits all seemed to fear and respect this man, but Akane could feel only fear. The dark magic that burned out of his body made it clear, this was one of the mages her mother warned her to avoid at all costs. The warlock standing before her kneels down to her level. "A beautiful specimen, not just an accomplished seer.. she will do just fine."[rand=457151447561064858013102545476571508999983116863326884608372379226]

Akane struggled to get free from her bindings. She opened her maw and made a terrifying screech at the bandits that surrounded her.
