Origin/Backstory:
Sakura Yuu was a very curious man, always tinkering away at things, Yuu adored spending his time creating new useful tools for his family to use on their farm. Scoffed at by many for being strange and too invested in trying to improve things that were already satisfactory, Yuu dreamed of leaving his home to gain more knowledge and freedom to create with. After many years of dreaming, he finally decided to leave Hoshidon for Qadar, a land widely respected for it's mastery of engineering and mathematics. There in Qadar, he decided, would he too master these things and become a great inventor. His journey was long and difficult, often he would stop in towns and complete whatever task he was asked to in order to gain enough money to take him to the next. Nearing the end of his travels, Yuu found himself lost and dehydrated near to death, surrounded by desert. In the distance he saw a glint of light, thinking it was reflecting from water, Yuu forced himself to carry on. To his dismay nothing was there, excluding an old bronze khopesh. He picked it up in utter disbelief. "How could I have been so stupid?"he wondered. His consciousness wavered, and he fell to the ground. How long he had been out, Yuu could only guess as he awoke to cold water on his face. First, all there was were hands and a bowl; beautiful, thin red hands surrounding a blue ceramic bowl full of water. He drank greedily, his vision unblurred. She was immaculate. Beautiful, blood-red skin with gold markings that shined covered her body, orange hair that met her feet, and golden eyes. "I am Idris. Your blood," she lifted his hand and he noticed a gash, "freed me from the khopesh, I am bound to grant you a wish. What do you desire?" Yuu required no time to think on the matter, he was entranced. "I wish for you to be my wife and companion." They traveled to her abode in the mountains and over time Idris grew to care for Yuu. She equipped him with every book he could desire. And, years later, she even gave him a child. It was the happiest day of Yuu's life, but after the initial joy, Idris seemed grim. Yuu asked why, and Idris told Yuu that their daughter Atsuko could never leave their home. That if she was noticed by the people of Qadar, paladins would be sent to destroy her (Idris failed to mention that she herself was only allowed to exist inside two spaces: the khopesh and their home) Yuu would have to look after her in the safety of the mountains whenever Idris would leave. Idris was the only one capable of traveling alone, and so, Yuu finally accepted it."Do not worry for me, I am strong, and what matters now is our child. No matter what happens, she must learn to use the powers I have given her. I have everything written in this book," She gave him a strong look, "She must be kept safe, and she must learn." Quickly after Idris went out to get supplies. It wasn't until days later that Yuu discovered that she had been attacked by paladins. Yuu could think of no safe way to transport his infant daughter home to Hoshidon, so he decided to remain in the mountains with his daughter.
Sakura Atsuko has known very little of the world that resided outside of her father's vast inn located deep in the mountains of Qadar. Although she was very curious and badgered her father consistently to allow her to greet the inn's guests, but he would never have it. Whenever they had a customer, Atsuko was regulated to the family rooms and not allowed to let her presence be known. All the knowledge of the outside world that she had was attained via a small hole in the wall that connected the kitchen and the guest common room. She memorized the stories, often used as fodder for day dreaming in her free hours. However, most of the day Atsuko was kept busy by her father's teachings- lessons passed down from her mother detailed accountings of magic only Atsuko could perform in an old leather bound book. Her father had kept this relic as a sort of bible, being the only thing that still connected him to his lost wife. He was relentless in forcing Atsuko to master everything she could in the book and Atsuko's desire to gain knowledge of her mother and the world fueled her ability to do so. Atsuko and her father lived a simple and quiet life for quite sometime. This all came to a crash one night as a mysterious visitor came to stay at the inn. Atsuko knew something was wrong, her father seemed strange, off-center and insisted more than usual that she not leave her bedroom for the night. Curiosity egged her on, out of her room, into the kitchen to discover why this traveler in particular was causing her father such stress. In the darkness, she creeped down the hallway towards the kitchen. When she rounded the corner she noticed a figure in shadow with a blade clenched in his hand. In fear she silently darted into the kitchen, unnoticed, and with bated breath looked through the hole in the wall. A man sat there in the common room by the fire, armor shining in the light. He had a strange look on his face, scouring the room with his eyes in search of something. His eyes met hers and his face erupted into an excited frenzy. He stood up, hurried to the door, when Yuu bursted in. He flailed his bronze khopesh about, marrying flesh with skin but once, until the stranger made his strike. Yuu's head fell to the floor. The stranger made way to towards her hiding place. Atsuko was finally released from her crippling fear and overcome by her powers. The fire in the fireplace erupted throughout the house, a blast flame consuming the inn and destroying the stranger. Hours later she awoke amidst the rubble. She located her mother's book and her father's khopesh among the ruins, and left and traveled east towards her father's homeland.
